    Getting Started

Start with one clean trading loop: set up your account, define starting capital, log your first trade, and use the dashboard to review risk and performance. This phase keeps the setup practical for NSE, BSE, MCX, equity, futures, options, and commodities workflows.

Phase 1 turns signup into a reliable daily loop: capital set, first trade logged, dashboard understood, and review habits started.

    First Loop

Account, capital, first trade, and dashboard review in one guided session.

    B
    Risk Baseline

Capital is set before analytics, so ROI and position sizing stay accurate.

    C
    Review Habit

The dashboard becomes the daily checkpoint before deeper reporting.

    Quick Start

Get up and running in under 5 minutes.

    Create account

Use email signup, verify once, and land in a clean local preview or live workspace.

    Set capital

Add starting capital before trades so risk, ROI, and position size math are useful from day one.

    Log first trade

Capture symbol, segment, entry, stop loss, quantity, tag, and the reason for the trade.

    Review dashboard

Read P&L, open risk, win rate, active alerts, and the next review task without hunting.

    Your First 5 Minutes

    1

    Create and verify your account

Sign up with email, confirm once, and enter the app with a clean starter workspace.

No card is needed for the trial flow; the goal is to reach the product quickly.

    2

Set starting capital before anything else

Enter the capital you actually use for trading. TradeBook uses it for risk per trade, return %, and capital-at-risk widgets.

You can revise this later in Settings -> Capital Management, but the first value should be honest.

    3

    Choose a comfortable theme

Pick light or dark mode based on when you review. The docs and dashboard keep the same visual system.

Use dark mode for long market sessions, light mode for reports and sharing.

    4

    Log one complete trade

Create a trade with symbol, segment, side, entry, quantity, stop loss, target, setup, and notes.

A single complete trade teaches the full workflow better than importing messy history first.

    5

    Read the dashboard once

Check today's P&L, open risk, alerts, and review prompts so you understand the daily command center.

After this, move to Phase 2 and learn the dashboard in detail.

    Best Practice

Set your starting capital accurately before logging your first trade. This number drives all risk-per-trade calculations, position sizing suggestions, and portfolio % metrics. You can update it later in Settings → Capital Management, but getting it right from day one ensures your analytics are meaningful from the start.

    Onboarding Flow
    Onboarding • Step 2 of 3

    Set Your Starting Capital

This defines your baseline. We use this to calculate accurate risk percentages, position sizing, and your overall ROI metrics.

Smart Sizing enabled. TradeBook will automatically suggest position sizes based on a default 1% risk per trade.

The onboarding wizard walks you through account setup, starting capital configuration, and theme selection. Each step validates before proceeding.

    What TradeBook Is

Use TradeBook as your trading operating system, not as a broker or signal provider.

    What it does

TradeBook gives you one place to log trades, monitor risk, review behavior, and turn raw trade history into repeatable rules.

    Why it matters

Most traders do not fail because they lack charts. They fail because risk, mistakes, and review notes are scattered across too many places.

    When to use

Use it before the session to check risk, during the session to record decisions, and after the close to review outcomes.

    Platform Overview

Understand the key areas of TradeBook.

    Create Your Account

Sign up, verify, and set the account foundation once. The onboarding flow should leave you ready to log, not stuck configuring.

    • Email-based signup with secure authentication
    • Set your starting capital during onboarding
    • Choose light or dark theme preference
    • Keep the first setup intentionally small
    • Move to Dashboard only after the capital baseline is set

    Navigate the Platform

The sidebar gives you quick access to every section. On mobile, a bottom navigation bar keeps everything within thumb reach.

    What it does

A structured dashboard broken into four operational zones: header filters, KPI strip, active workspace, and performance review.

    Why it matters

The dashboard needs to answer trading questions without forcing users to hunt across scattered widgets. Fixed zones make the screen predictable.

    When to use

Use it before the open for context, during market hours for risk and positions, and after the close for journal and review decisions.

    Dashboard command center

One screen for the four decisions every trader checks.

The dashboard is documented as an operating system, not a pile of widgets: what is happening, what is at risk, what needs action, and what needs review after the session.

    Dashboard Architecture

A structured view of the real dashboard layout and widget system.

The layout starts with the KPI scan, then moves into active positions, risk controls, briefing/actions, and review widgets. Filters and workspaces stay at the top so every visible panel shares the same context.

    Trade Management

The core of TradeBook. Log every trade with detailed metadata — entry, exit, stop loss, targets, tags, chart images, and post-trade reviews. Manage your entire trading book from one screen.

    What it does

Log every trade with entry/exit, stop loss, targets, tags, chart images, and notes. Track status from open → partial → closed with full timeline.

    Why it matters

Without detailed records, you can't analyze what's working. Trade management turns random trading into a systematic, reviewable process.

    When to use

Every time you enter, modify, or exit a position. The faster you log, the more accurate your records.

    Pro Tip

Always set your stop loss before submitting a trade. TradeBook calculates your risk-to-reward ratio automatically — trades with R:R below 1:2 are flagged in your analytics.

    Creating & Managing Trades

Log trades with detailed metadata and smart defaults.

    Creating Your First Trade

    1

    Open the trade form

Click '+ New Trade' in the sidebar or press N on your keyboard. The Command Palette (⌘K) also works.

On mobile, tap the floating '+' button at the bottom right.

    2

    Search for an instrument

Type the stock name or symbol. The unified search covers NSE, BSE, and MCX — equities, futures, and options.

The segment (Intraday, Positional, F&O, etc.) is auto-detected from the instrument type.

    3

    Set entry details

Enter your entry price, quantity, and trade type (BUY or SELL). Add a stop loss and up to 5 target levels.

The position sizing calculator shows your optimal quantity based on risk %.

    4

    Add context & submit

Attach setup tags, chart links, confidence score, and notes. Check off your trading rules, then submit.

Templates can pre-fill most of these fields for your common setups.

    Best Practice

Most brokers offer a 'Download' or 'Export' button in the trade history or contract notes section.

    2

    Upload to TradeBook

Go to Trades → Import CSV and select your file.

Drag-and-drop is supported. Files up to 5MB with hundreds of rows work smoothly.

    3

    Map columns

Match your CSV column headers to TradeBook fields. Common names are auto-detected.

Headers like 'ticker', 'qty', 'entry_price' are recognized automatically — you only need to fix unmatched ones.

    4

    Preview & confirm

Review mapped data, fix any validation errors, then confirm the import.

Validation highlights missing required fields, invalid dates, and potential duplicates before you commit.

    Watch Out

Date format mismatches are the most common import issue. Ensure your CSV dates are in YYYY-MM-DD or DD/MM/YYYY format. US-style MM/DD/YYYY can cause silent errors where day and month get swapped — always double-check a few rows in the preview step before confirming.

    Trade Templates & Smart Suggestions

Save your frequently-used trade setups as reusable templates. Plus, get AI-suggested setups based on your trading patterns.

    Jump to

    Template Setup

Create and manage reusable trade templates for faster logging.

    Creating Your First Template

    1

Go to Settings → Trade Templates

Open the template manager from your settings page.

You can also create templates directly from the trade creation modal.

    2

    Define your setup

Choose the segment (Intraday, Options, etc.), trade type (BUY/SELL), and default stop loss %.

Add your preferred tags and timeframe to auto-fill them on every use.

    3

    Add optional defaults

Set a notes template for pre-written checklists, and toggle auto-tracking or Telegram posting.

Notes templates are great for embedding your setup criteria as a reminder.

    4

    Save and use

Hit save. Next time you create a trade, click 'Use Template' to pre-fill everything in one click.

You can edit or delete templates anytime from the settings page.

    Template Configuration

Build templates for your most common trade setups:

    • Pre-fill segment, trade type, default SL %, and tags
    • Optional notes template and preferred timeframe
    • Enable/disable auto-tracking per template
    • Toggle Telegram posting per template
    • One-click 'Use' button when creating new trades

    Note

A template-based trade takes about 5–10 seconds to log — compared to 45–60 seconds filling every field manually. Over 20 trades a week, that's 15+ minutes saved, and more importantly, zero missed fields or forgotten stop losses.

    Pro Tip

Create a template for each of your top 3 setups. When you see a setup forming, use the template to log the trade in under 10 seconds — no more missed opportunities.

    Position Sizing Calculator

Built-in risk calculator that tells you exactly how many shares to buy based on your capital, risk tolerance, and stop loss distance. This is the single most important tool for account survival.

    Jump to

    Best Practice

Why this feature exists: Most retail traders blow up not from bad entries, but from oversized positions. A single 5% risk trade that hits SL wipes out 5 winning trades at 1% each. The Position Sizing Calculator enforces mathematical discipline — it removes emotion from the "how much?" decision and replaces it with a formula tied to your actual risk tolerance. If you use nothing else in TradeBook, use this.

    Max loss: ₹15,000 · Risk: ₹35.50/share

    Calculation Workflow

How the calculator determines your optimal position size.

    How It Works

    1

Set your capital & risk %

Define your total capital and the max % you're willing to risk per trade (e.g., 1.5%).

Your starting capital is pulled from Settings automatically — no need to re-enter it each time.

    2

Enter entry & stop loss prices

The calculator computes the risk per share (entry − SL).

For short trades, risk per share = SL − entry price.

    3

    Get recommended quantity

Max shares = (Capital × Risk%) ÷ Risk per share. Automatically rounds down.

The calculator also shows total position value so you can check margin requirements.

    4

    Review max loss

See the maximum loss in rupees before you commit to the trade.

If the max loss exceeds 2% of capital, a red warning is displayed.

    Advanced Sizing

Expert-level position sizing with the Kelly Criterion.

    Risk Per Trade Guidelines

Recommended risk levels based on trading experience.

    Note

Beginner tip: Start by setting risk at 0.5% and use the calculator on every single trade for at least 30 trades. Don't adjust the risk % based on "how good" a setup looks — the whole point is consistency. After 30 trades, review your analytics to see if you can gradually increase to 1%.

    Trading Rules Checklist

Define your personal pre-trade rules and enforce discipline. Every rule must be checked before a trade can be submitted — turning your best intentions into consistent behavior.

    Jump to

    Best Practice

Why this feature exists: Every trader has rules they know they should follow. The problem isn't knowledge — it's execution under pressure. When a setup looks exciting and the market is moving fast, discipline evaporates. The Trading Rules Checklist makes your rules mandatory — you physically can't submit a trade until every box is checked. This transforms "I should check the trend" from a suggestion into a gate that prevents impulsive entries.

    Trading Rules Checklist
    Trading Rules Checklist

    Pre-Trade Checklist

    Check trend on higher timeframe
    Confirm volume supports the move
Risk is within 1.5% of capital
Not revenge trading after a loss
    Market sentiment aligns with trade

⚠️ Complete all rules before submitting your trade

    Setup & Usage

How to create and enforce your personal trading rules.

    How Trading Rules Work

Create a custom checklist that appears in the trade creation modal:

    • Add unlimited custom rules in Settings → Trading Rules
    • Drag-to-reorder rules by priority
    • All rules must be checked to submit a new trade
    • Rules can be temporarily toggled active/inactive
    • Enforces consistent pre-trade analysis every time

    Best Practice

Start with 3–5 rules maximum. The best rules are specific and actionable: "Confirm volume is above 20-day average" is better than "Check volume."

    Core vs Optional Rules

Distinguish between must-follow rules and situational guidelines.

    Note

Review your trading rules every weekend. Remove rules you never check, tighten vague ones, and add new rules based on mistakes from the past week. Your rules should evolve as your trading matures.

    Alerts System

Set price alerts, percentage change triggers, volume spike detectors, and custom conditions. Get notified instantly via in-app notifications or Telegram — so you never miss a setup while away from the screen.

    Note

Why this feature exists: You can't watch 50 stocks simultaneously, but you can set 50 alerts. Alerts free you from staring at screens and replace reactive trading ("I just happened to see RELIANCE spike") with intentional trading ("My alert triggered at ₹2,450 because that's my planned entry level"). The best traders spend more time planning than watching — alerts make that possible.

The search auto-detects the exchange and segment.

    3

    Choose a condition

Select from 7 condition types: Price Above, Price Below, Crosses Above/Below, % Change, Volume Spike, or Custom.

For your first alert, 'Price Above' or 'Price Below' is the simplest starting point.

    4

    Set threshold & delivery

Enter the trigger price, choose recurrence (once/daily/continuous), and enable Telegram if connected.

You can also set a cooldown period to avoid repeated notifications.

Beginner tip: Start with 3–5 simple "Price Above" or "Price Below" alerts on stocks you're watching. Set them as one-time triggers. Once you're comfortable, graduate to "Crosses Above" alerts with daily recurrence and Telegram delivery — this is the setup most active traders use.

    Pro Tip

Advanced tip: Combine alerts with studies. Create a study for a pattern you're tracking, link an alert to the study, and set the alert at your planned entry level. When the alert triggers, your full research context is one click away — you go from notification to informed trade execution in seconds.

Document your trade ideas, chart analyses, and research findings. Tag with patterns, track status through a workflow, and link studies to actual trades.

    Best Practice

Why this feature exists: Most traders research a stock, convince themselves to trade it, and then forget why they entered when it starts going against them. Studies create a paper trail of your thesis before you risk money. When you link a study to a trade, you can objectively compare "what I expected" with "what actually happened" — this feedback loop is how edges are built and refined over time.

    Pro Tip

Link your studies to trades when you execute them. This builds a powerful feedback loop — you can see which of your research ideas actually led to profitable trades.

    Weekly Journal Review Routine

A structured weekly habit that compounds your trading improvement.

    Your Weekly Journal Review Routine

    1

    Open the Dashboard tab

Start with the big picture — check your weekly P&L, win rate, and equity curve trend.

Look for the overall direction: are you improving week over week?

    2

    Review the Calendar tab

Scan the heatmap for red clusters. Multiple losing days in a row signal emotional or process problems.

Click individual days to re-read your daily journal entries and see what you were thinking.

    3

    Analyze Patterns & Mistakes

Check which patterns made money and which mistakes cost you the most this week.

Your top 3 mistakes should become next week's focus areas for improvement.

    4

    Drag-review on the Kanban board

Re-assess mistake severity. Drag cards between Low/Medium/High as your understanding deepens.

A 'Low' mistake that keeps recurring should be promoted to 'High' — it's a habit, not a one-off.

    5

Write your plan for next week

Open the daily journal for Monday and write your pre-market plan based on this review.

Include: which setups to focus on, which mistakes to avoid, and your max risk budget.

    Note

Journal consistency matters more than journal depth. Writing 3 sentences daily for 30 days straight builds more insight than a detailed 2-page entry once a month. The journal tracks your streak — aim for at least 5 consecutive trading days of entries to build the habit.

    Journal Views

Four specialized tabs for different aspects of your journal.

    Dashboard Tab

High-level summary of your trading performance:

    • Summary cards: Total P&L, Win Rate, Avg Holding Time, Best Pattern, Top Mistake
    • Equity curve visualization with date range selector

    What it does

Deep performance analytics: win rate, profit factor, equity curve, time heatmaps, streak tracking, risk-of-ruin, AI pattern detection, and more.

    Why it matters

Trading without analytics is driving blind. These metrics reveal which setups make money, when you should avoid trading, and where your biggest leaks are.

    When to use

Review weekly after your journal session. Don't check daily — small samples produce misleading signals. Focus on 30+ trade windows.

    Best Practice

Why this feature exists: Trading without analytics is like driving without a dashboard — you might be going fast, but you have no idea if you're heading toward a cliff. Analytics transforms your raw trade data into actionable intelligence: which setups actually make you money, what times of day you should avoid, whether your risk management is working, and where your biggest behavioral leaks are. The difference between a struggling trader and a profitable one is often just awareness of these patterns.

    Note

Don't try to track everything at once. Start with just 3 metrics: Win Rate, Expectancy, and Profit Factor. These three alone tell you whether you have an edge. Add more metrics only after you've consistently tracked these for 30+ trades.

    Analytics Interpretation Mistakes

"My win rate is 55% so I'm profitable"

Win rate means nothing without average win/loss size. Check Expectancy alongside Win Rate.

"My best hour is 10 AM" (based on 5 trades)

Need 30+ trades per time slot for statistical significance. Check trade counts alongside P&L.

"Stop trading Options — only 40% win rate"

Options often have lower win rate but higher R:R. A 40% rate with 3:1 R:R is very profitable.

"AI says I overtrade on Mondays, skip Mondays"

AI insights are starting points. Check underlying data — reducing volume may beat skipping entirely.

    Core Metrics & AI Insights

Fundamental performance statistics that define your trading edge.

    Core Metrics

    Pro

The essential numbers that tell you whether you have an edge:

    • Win Rate — overall and by segment (what % of trades are profitable)
    • Total P&L — cumulative profit/loss across all closed trades
    • Average Win / Average Loss — the size ratio of your winners vs losers
    • Expectancy — expected value per trade (positive = you have an edge)

    • P&L distribution charts for each segment

    Time-Based Analysis

Discover your most and least profitable trading windows.

    Time-Based Heatmaps

    Pro

Two heatmaps that reveal your optimal trading schedule:

    • Time of Day heatmap — which hours (9 AM – 3:30 PM) are most profitable
    • Day of Week heatmap — which days you perform best on
    • Color intensity shows P&L magnitude (green = profit, red = loss)
    • Trade count overlay for statistical significance
    • Helps you avoid trading during your historically weak periods

    Day & Time Cross-Analysis

    Pro

Combined Day × Time grid for granular insights:

    • 5×5 grid: weekdays as rows, time slots as columns
    • Each cell shows win rate and trade count
    • Identify specific windows like 'Tuesday 10-12 AM' as your best slot
    • Color-coded cells: green ≥ 60% win rate, red < 40%

    Streaks & Risk-Reward

Track momentum and analyze your planned vs actual risk-reward ratios.

    Streak Tracker

    Pro

Track and visualize winning and losing streaks:

A 6-month heatmap grid showing how your trading allocation shifts across segments over time:

    • Rows: Market segments (Options, Futures, Equity Intraday, etc.)
    • Columns: Last 6 months of trading data
    • Cell intensity based on trade volume — darker = more active
    • Color coding: green cells for net profit, red for net loss
    • Shows trade count and total P&L per cell on hover
    • Helps identify segment rotation patterns and concentration risk

    Setup Win-Rate Matrix

    Calendar View

A monthly heatmap grid showing your P&L performance at a glance.

    P&L Heatmap Calendar

A 2-column desktop layout with the calendar grid on the left and a stacked trade list / journal editor panel on the right:

    • Monthly grid with color-coded P&L per day — intensity reflects magnitude
    • Green shades for profitable days, red for losses, neutral for flat or no-trade days
    • Dot indicators on days that have journal entries written
    • Orange dashed border highlights for 'Today' and 'Selected Date'
    • Click any date to open the journal editor and see trades closed that day

    Monthly Performance Strip

A quick-glance summary bar above the calendar.

    Monthly Performance Strip

Displayed above the calendar grid, this strip gives you instant context for the month:

    • Total P&L for the selected month
    • Win Days / Loss Days count
    • Best Day and Worst Day with amounts
    • Updates automatically as you navigate between months

    Your Daily End-of-Day Review

A structured routine for capturing lessons while they're fresh.

    Your Daily End-of-Day Review

    1

Open the calendar and click today's date

Navigate to the Calendar page. Today's date is highlighted with an orange dashed border. Click it to open the day detail panel.

You can also access this via the Daily Review Wizard in Dashboard Quick Actions for a guided 4-step flow.

    2

    Record your mood

Select your emotional state for the day — Confident, Calm, Anxious, FOMO, Frustrated, etc. This feeds into the Emotional P&L Correlation analytics.

Be honest. The value comes from correlating your mood with actual trading outcomes over time.

    3

    Write your post-market review

In 2-3 sentences, capture what happened today. Did you follow your plan? What surprised you? What would you do differently?

Focus on process, not outcome. A profitable day where you broke rules is still worth noting as a concern.

    4

Tag your best and worst trades

Identify which trade was your best execution and which was your worst. This builds a feedback loop with your trade ratings.

Over time, patterns emerge — you'll see which setups consistently produce your best and worst trades.

    5

    Document one lesson learned

Write a single, specific takeaway. 'Don't trade BANKNIFTY in the first 5 minutes' is better than 'Be more patient'.

Specific, actionable lessons compound. After 30 days, you'll have a personalized trading rulebook.

    Journal Editor

Write structured daily reflections to track your trading mindset.

    Daily Journal Entry

Each day has a structured journal entry with dedicated sections:

    • Pre-market plan — write your plan before market opens (key levels, setups to watch, risk budget)
    • Post-market review — reflect on the day's trades and execution quality
    • Market outlook notes — broader market context and sector observations
    • Mood tracking — select from predefined emotional states

    ✅ Post-Market Review

Followed plan well on RELIANCE — entered on breakout and trailed SL. NIFTY short was against thesis, should have skipped. HDFCBANK entry was textbook retest.

    Watch Out

Mistakes analysis is about patterns, not punishment. Every trader makes mistakes — the goal isn't zero errors, it's recognizing which errors are recurring and costing you real money. A single bad trade is noise; the same mistake 10 times is a habit worth fixing.

    Categorizing a Mistake

A step-by-step process for tagging and learning from trading errors.

    Categorizing a Mistake

    1

Identify the error during trade review

When closing a trade or during your daily review, ask: 'Did I deviate from my plan?' If yes, that's a mistake worth tagging.

Not every losing trade is a mistake. A well-planned trade that hit your stop loss is just part of the game. Only tag genuine process deviations.

    2

Select or create a mistake tag

Choose from your existing mistake tags (e.g., 'Entered too early', 'No stop-loss', 'Oversized position') or create a new one in Settings → Tag Management.

Keep tags specific and actionable. 'Bad trade' is too vague — 'Moved SL further away' is specific enough to track and fix.

    3

    Assign severity level

Rate the mistake as Low, Medium, or High based on its financial impact and how preventable it was.

Severity should reflect both the loss amount and whether this is a known weakness. A first-time error might be 'Low' but should be escalated if it recurs.

    4

    Review the pattern monthly

Check the Mistakes page monthly. Look for tags that appear 3+ times — those are your habits, not one-offs, and deserve focused improvement effort.

Use the 6-month trend chart to verify improvement. If a mistake's frequency is dropping, your awareness is working.

    Pattern Recognition

Identify repeat mistakes and track their frequency over time.

    Mistake Pattern Analysis

The Mistakes page surfaces behavioral patterns by analyzing your tagged mistakes across all closed trades:

    • Repeat pattern analysis — frequency count for each mistake type
    • Total loss attributed to each mistake type (your most expensive habits)
    • 6-month mistake trend chart showing improvement or deterioration over time
    • Most common vs most costly mistakes comparison — these are often different

    Note

Your most costly mistake is usually not your most frequent one. Check the "Most Costly" column — a single mistake type might account for 40% of your total losses even if it only happens occasionally.

    Severity Classification

Categorize mistakes by financial impact to prioritize what to fix first.

    Severity Breakdown

Three severity tiers help you prioritize which habits to address first:

    • Low severity — minor process deviations with small financial impact (e.g., entering slightly early)
    • Medium severity — noticeable losses from avoidable errors (e.g., oversizing a position once)
    • High severity — significant losses from recurring behavioral issues (e.g., consistently moving stop losses)
    • Manage and customize mistake tags via Settings → Tag Management

    Technical Scanner

    Jump to

    Running Your First Screen

A quick walkthrough to get results in under 30 seconds.

    Running Your First Screen

    1

    Open the Stock Screener page

Navigate to the Screener from the sidebar. You'll see a category bar at the top with 5 preset groups: Market Cap, Price Action, Volume, Fundamental, and Technical.

On mobile, these appear as a horizontal pill-style bar you can swipe through.

    2

    Pick a preset to start

Click any preset — for example, 'Top Gainers' under Price Action. Results load instantly from the NSE data feed via TradingView.

Each preset is pre-configured with the right filters and sort order. You don't need to set anything up.

    3

    Sort and explore the results

Click any column header (Market Cap, P/E, RSI, Volume) to sort. Use the inline search bar to filter by symbol or company name.

The LTP column uses bold integers with muted decimals for quick scanning. Change% and RSI are color-coded.

    4

    Click a stock for deep-dive

Click any row to open the Stock Insight Card — a rich popup with Valuation, Financials, and Technicals tabs.

From the insight card, you can directly create a Trade, set an Alert, add to a Watchlist, or start a Study.

    5

Save a custom filter for next time

Switch to the Custom Filter tab, build your conditions, name the preset, and save. It appears in 'My Presets' for instant reuse.

Saved presets persist across sessions and devices — build once, use forever.

    Best Practice

Save custom presets for your recurring workflows. If you screen for "P/E < 15 AND ROE > 15% AND RSI < 40" every week, save it as "Value + Oversold" — one click replaces 3 minutes of manual filter setup every time.

Generating and Reviewing Your Weekly Report

A step-by-step guide to getting the most from your weekly summary.

Generating and Reviewing Your Weekly Report

    1

    Reports generate automatically every Monday

At 6:00 AM IST every Monday, a new report is generated covering the previous Monday–Friday trading week. No action needed — it's waiting for you.

You can also manually generate a report anytime from the Reports page if you want a mid-week check-in.

    2

    Review segment-by-segment P&L

Start with the segment breakdown — Equity Intraday, Positional, Futures, Options, Commodities. See which segments made money and which didn't.

If one segment is consistently negative, consider reducing position sizes there or pausing it until you fix the underlying issue.

    3

Check your best and worst trades

The report highlights your single best and worst trades of the week. These extremes often reveal important lessons about position sizing and setup quality.

Ask yourself: was the best trade skill or luck? Was the worst trade avoidable or just a normal stop-out?

    4

Review top setups and common mistakes

See which setup tags produced the most profit and which mistake tags cost you the most. This is your actionable feedback loop.

Your top 2 setups should get more of your capital allocation next week. Your top 2 mistakes should become focus areas.

    5

Set 1-2 goals for the coming week

Based on the report insights, pick one setup to focus on and one mistake to avoid. Write these in Monday's pre-market journal entry.

Specific goals like 'Only take Breakout setups in first hour' outperform vague goals like 'Trade better'.

    Report Contents

    Creating Your First Card

A quick walkthrough from trade to shareable image.

Creating and Sharing Your First P&L Card

    1

    Open the Share modal

From the Dashboard, click the Share P&L button. You can also share from the Journal, Reports page, or any Trade Detail modal.

P&L cards summarize your performance over a period. Trade cards share a single trade's result.

    2

    Choose your card type

Select P&L Summary, Individual Trade, or Streak card depending on what you want to share.

P&L cards show aggregate stats (win rate, trade count, total P&L). Trade cards show entry/exit details, R:R ratio, and holding duration.

    3

    Pick a template and format

Choose from Dark Premium, Light Clean, or Gradient template. Then select your size: Square (1080×1080), Story (1080×1920), or Twitter (1200×675).

The live preview updates instantly as you switch templates and sizes so you can see exactly what you'll share.

    4

    Add your custom branding

Upload your own logo to replace the default TradeBook watermark. Logos are saved to localStorage for future use.

This is great for traders who run public channels or communities — your cards carry your brand.

    5

    Achievements & Gamification

Earn badges as you hit trading milestones. From your first trade to 100-day streaks, achievements make your trading journey rewarding and motivating.

    Jump to

    Best Practice

Why achievements matter: Trading is a long game, and progress is often invisible. You don't "level up" visibly — you just slowly get better at reading charts and managing risk. Achievements create visible milestones that mark your journey. The psychological boost from unlocking a "50 Trades" badge keeps you motivated during drawdown periods when P&L isn't rewarding you. They reward process, not just profits.

    Why Gamification Works for Traders

The psychology behind achievements and how they improve your trading.

    Tracking Your Progress

How to monitor your journey toward unlocking badges.

    Tracking Your Progress Toward Badges

    1

    Check your Dashboard badges widget

The Achievements grid on your Dashboard shows all badges with progress bars. Badges closest to unlocking are highlighted.

Each badge displays a percentage — e.g., '35/50 trades' for the 50-trade milestone badge.

    2

    Keep trading and journaling consistently

Most badges track activity you're already doing — logging trades, setting stop losses, writing journal entries. No extra effort needed.

Streak badges require consecutive days, so consistency matters more than volume. Missing one day resets the counter.

    3

    Watch for unlock notifications

When you hit a threshold, a synced toast notification celebrates the unlock with an animation. The badge timestamp is recorded permanently.

Unlocked badges are visible on your profile and can be shared via social cards.

    4

    Review progress periodically

Check which badges you're close to earning and set mini-goals. 'Just 5 more trades for the 100-trade milestone' keeps you motivated.

Some badges unlock at surprising times — the discipline badges reward process adherence, not just trading volume.

    Badge Categories

Four achievement groups covering milestones, streaks, profit, and discipline.

    Milestones & Streaks

Track your trading volume and consistency:

    • Milestones — trade count targets (1, 10, 50, 100, 500 trades)
    • Streaks — consecutive profitable days (3, 5, 7, 14, 30 days)
    • Progress bars update in synced as you log trades

    Profit & Discipline

Reward good habits and consistent execution:

    • Profit — cumulative P&L targets and win rate milestones
    • Discipline — following rules, setting SL, using templates, journaling
    • Process badges reward how you trade, not just outcomes

Achievements are tracked automatically as you use TradeBook. Each badge has a threshold (e.g., "Log 50 trades") and your progress is updated in synced. When you reach the threshold, the badge unlocks with a celebration animation and a toast notification.

View your progress in the Dashboard achievements widget. Unlocked badges show a timestamp of when they were earned.

    Full Badge Catalog

Every available badge and what it takes to unlock it.

    Note

Check the Achievements grid on your Dashboard to see which badges you're closest to earning. Focus on discipline badges first — they reinforce good trading habits that compound over time.

Enable the 'Public' toggle to make your profile accessible at /profile/[your-id].

    5

    Add a disclaimer

Optionally add a custom disclaimer (e.g., 'SEBI RA INH000015297 - educational review only'). A default education and risk disclaimer is shown if you don't set one.

    Privacy Controls

    You control exactly what's visible.

    What's Shown vs Hidden

Your public profile shows aggregate stats only — never individual trade details:

    • Visible — display name, bio, avatar, monthly win rate, average R:R, trade count, and current streak
    • Hidden — individual trades, entry/exit prices, P&L amounts, specific symbols, notes, and journal entries
    • The is_public toggle is off by default — your profile is private unless you explicitly enable it
    • You can disable your public profile at any time by toggling it off in Settings
    • Monthly stats are self-reported aggregates — visitors see performance summaries, not raw data

    Monthly Stats

Aggregate performance displayed on your profile.

    Monthly Performance Display

    • Win rate percentage for the current and recent months
    • Average risk-to-reward ratio across closed trades
    • Total trade count to show activity level
    • Current winning/losing streak
    • Stats update automatically as you close trades — no manual input needed

    Watch Out

Public profiles are designed for accountability and community, not as financial advice. Always include a disclaimer, especially if you share your profile link on social media. TradeBook adds a default educational review and risk disclaimer if you don't set a custom one.

    Workspaces

Separate trading books without creating separate accounts. Workspaces let you isolate intraday, swing, F&O, long-term, or experiment books while still keeping an All Workspaces overview.

    Jump to
WORKSPACE SWITCHERAll WorkspacesIntraday DeskSwing BookF&O LabTradesFiltered trade listAnalyticsTrade-backed metricsReportsWorkspace review context

    Why Workspaces Matter

Keep each trading context clean while preserving a global view.

    Separate Books, One Account

    Core Feature

Use workspaces when one combined journal hides the real story. A scalping book, swing book, and options experiment should not always share the same win rate or risk profile.

    • All Workspaces shows every trade and aggregate metric
    • A selected workspace filters trade-backed screens through the active workspace context
    • The active workspace is remembered locally so the next session opens in the same context
    • Local preview includes demo workspaces so the selector behaves without backend setup

    Workspace Switcher

Use the selector in the sidebar to move between contexts.

    Create and Select a Workspace

    1

    Open the workspace dropdown

Use the selector near the top of the sidebar. It starts on All Workspaces.

    2

    Create a named workspace

Choose New Workspace, then set a name, color, and icon so it is easy to recognize.

    3

    Switch context

Select the workspace to filter the app to that book. Choose All Workspaces to return to the aggregate view.

    4

    Clean up carefully

Deleting a workspace unassigns its trades instead of deleting the trades themselves.

    Trade Assignment

Move trades into the right workspace after logging or importing.

    Assignment Behaviour

    • Trades can be assigned to a workspace or left unassigned
    • Workspace assignment is stored on the trade record as workspace_id
    • Trade lists and other trade-backed summaries read from the active workspace context
    • Deleting a workspace resets affected trades to no workspace, preserving trade history

    Limits & Safety

The workspace system is intentionally small and predictable.

Each user can create up to 5 workspaces. That limit keeps the selector useful and prevents over-fragmented analytics.

    • Good examples: Intraday, Swing, Options, Long-Term, Experiments
    • Avoid creating a workspace for every symbol; use tags for symbol/setup-level organization
    • Use All Workspaces for total portfolio review and one workspace for focused improvement
    • If a workspace disappears, the app falls back safely to All Workspaces

    Playbook

Your personal trading playbook — define your setups, document rules for each strategy, and track which setups actually make you money. The playbook turns scattered intuition into a systematic edge.

    Jump to

    Note

What is a Playbook? Think of it as your personal trading manual. Each "play" defines a specific setup (e.g., "Gap & Go", "VWAP Reversal", "Earnings Breakout") with entry criteria, exit rules, position sizing, and risk parameters. When you tag trades with a play, TradeBook automatically tracks win rate, average R, and best market conditions for each setup.

    Defining Setup Rules

Create detailed rules for each trading setup.

    Setup Configuration

    • Name your setup with a descriptive title (e.g., 'Morning Breakout — High Volume')
    • Define entry criteria: price action pattern, indicators, volume conditions
    • Set exit rules: target levels, trailing stop logic, time-based exits
    • Specify risk parameters: max position size, stop-loss percentage, R:R minimum
    • Add visual examples — attach chart screenshots showing ideal setup patterns
    • Mark setups as Active, Paused, or Retired to manage your strategy rotation

    Strategy Tags

Link trades to playbook setups for automatic tracking.

    Tag-Based Tracking

    • Every playbook setup creates a corresponding tag in your tag library
    • Tag trades with the setup used — manually or via AI auto-suggestion
    • Multiple tags per trade supported (e.g., 'VWAP Reversal' + 'Earnings Day')
    • Filter your trade history by any setup tag to see isolated performance
    • Quick-tag shortcut: press 'T' on any trade row to open the tag picker

    Win Rate Matrix

See which setups make money and which don't.

    Setup Performance Analytics

    • Matrix view showing win rate, average P&L, and trade count per setup
    • Cross-reference setups against market conditions (trending vs ranging)
    • Time-of-day analysis: which setups work best in the morning vs afternoon
    • Segment filter: compare setup performance in Equity vs F&O vs Commodity
    • Color-coded cells: green for profitable setups, red for negative expectancy
    • Export matrix as CSV or share as image for accountability partners

    Best Practice

Pro Strategy: Review your playbook matrix every weekend. Retire setups with negative expectancy over 30+ trades. Double down on your top 2-3 setups. Most consistently profitable traders use 3-5 core setups — not 20.

    Playbook Reports

Weekly and monthly playbook performance summaries.

    Automated Reports

    • Weekly playbook summary included in your regular weekly report
    • Monthly deep-dive: best performing setup, worst performing, most traded
    • Trend tracking: is your setup improving or degrading over time?
    • AI-powered insights: 'Your VWAP Reversal setup works 78% better on Tuesdays'
    • Share playbook stats on your public profile (opt-in, setup names can be hidden)

    AI Trade Coach

Get instant AI-powered feedback on every closed trade. The coach analyzes your entry, exit, timing, and risk management — then gives actionable advice you can apply to your next trade.

    Jump to

    Best Practice

Why this feature exists: Professional traders have mentors, accountability partners, or structured review processes. Most retail traders close a trade and immediately move on to the next one — never processing what happened. The AI Trade Coach forces a structured pause after every close, analyzing your execution against your own plan. It's not replacing human mentorship, but it's the next best thing for traders who trade alone. Over 50+ reviewed trades, patterns in the feedback become unmistakable: "You keep exiting too early on Options trades" or "Your SL placement on Intraday is consistently too tight."

    AI Trade Coach Feedback

    AI Trade Coach

    Feedback for RELIANCE BUY trade

    +₹4,450

    What Went Well

Excellent entry timing — you caught the breakout candle within the first 5 minutes. Your 1.2% stop loss was well-positioned below the support zone.

    Room for Improvement

You exited at Target 1 but the stock continued +2.3% higher. Consider trailing your stop loss to lock in gains while letting winners run.

    Overall Rating

    4/5

The coach provides structured markdown feedback with specific observations about your entry timing, exit quality, and risk management. Feedback is saved permanently on each trade record.

    StrengthsImprovementsRating

    Coaching Workflow

Automatic 4-step analysis triggered after every closed trade.

How the AI Trade Coach Works

    1

    Close a trade

When you close or exit a trade, the AI Coach is automatically triggered. You can also enable auto-review in trade settings so every close gets analyzed.

Manual triggering is also available from the Trade Detail modal — useful for re-reviewing older trades.

    2

    AI analyzes your trade

The coach examines entry timing, stop loss placement, exit strategy, risk management, and emotional context using your configured AI provider.

The more data your trade has (notes, targets, stop loss, emotion tag), the more specific the feedback will be.

    3

    Get structured feedback

Receive markdown-formatted feedback organized into 'What Went Well', 'Room for Improvement', and an overall rating (1-5 stars).

Feedback is actionable — not just 'good trade' but specific observations like 'SL was 3% away, consider tightening to 1.5% for this setup type.'

    4

Feedback is saved on the trade

All coaching feedback is cached on the trade record in the database. Review it anytime from the Trade Detail modal.

Feedback persists permanently. Over time, you build a library of AI-reviewed trades you can search and learn from.

    Analysis Dimensions

Six areas the AI evaluates on every trade.

    What the Coach Analyzes

    Pro

The AI coach evaluates each trade across six dimensions:

    • Entry timing — was the entry at an optimal price level given the setup?
    • Stop loss placement — was the SL too tight (stopped out prematurely) or too wide (excessive risk)?
    • Exit strategy — did you take profits too early or hold too long past optimal exit?
    • Risk management — was the position size appropriate relative to your capital and the setup's risk?
    • Pattern recognition — was the trade consistent with your historically best-performing setups?
    • Emotional assessment — signs of FOMO, revenge trading, or overconfidence based on trade context and emotion tags

    Note

The coach's feedback quality improves with more trade context. If you add notes, screenshots, or update your emotion tag after the initial review, click Regenerate Feedback in the Trade Detail modal to get a richer, more specific analysis.

    🎙️

    Voice Journal

    Trigger: Journal → Voice entry

Speak your trading thoughts in Hindi or English — AI extracts mood, plan, review, and lessons into structured journal fields.

    Pro Tip

Getting the best AI feedback: The more context you provide on your trades, the better the AI output. Adding notes (your thesis), emotion tags (greedy/fearful/neutral), targets, and stop loss dramatically improves coaching quality. Trades with all fields filled get 3x more specific feedback than bare-bones entries.

    How the AI Model Evaluates

Transparency into what the AI considers and how it forms its assessment.

    Best Practice

Read your AI Coach feedback before taking the next trade. If the coach flagged "exited too early" on 3 consecutive trades, it's a signal to work on your trailing stop strategy.

    Integrations

Connect your broker and messaging apps to automate data flow, get market data, and receive instant notifications.

    Jump to

    Best Practice

Why integrations matter: TradeBook is most powerful when connected to your broker and messaging platforms. Without Dhan, you manually enter all prices and positions. Without Telegram, you have to check the app constantly for alerts. Integrations automate the boring parts — data entry, price monitoring, notification delivery — so you can focus on the decision-making parts of trading that actually require your brain.

    Watch Out

Never share your API keys or access tokens publicly. TradeBook stores all credentials securely server-side — they are never exposed to the browser and cannot be read back from the client. Treat your Dhan API key and Telegram bot token like passwords.

    Connecting Your Dhan Account

Link your Dhan broker for market data, portfolio sync, and execution.

    Connecting Your Dhan Account

    1

    Get your Dhan API credentials

Log in to your Dhan dashboard and navigate to the API section. You'll need your API Key and API Secret for the OAuth flow.

Dhan offers two auth methods: a manual 24-hour Access Token (quick but expires daily) and a 12-month API Key + Secret OAuth flow (recommended for long-term use).

    2

    Enter credentials in TradeBook

Go to Settings → Integrations → Dhan. Paste your API Key and Secret, then click Connect. TradeBook initiates the OAuth handshake.

The OAuth process opens a Dhan authorization window. Approve the connection and you'll be redirected back to TradeBook automatically.

    3

Activate Data API plan on Dhan

Important: market data require an active 'Data API' plan on Dhan's dashboard. Without it, you'll see API Error 806 (Data APIs not Subscribed).

This is a separate step from API Key creation. Go to Dhan Dashboard → API → Data API and activate the plan. It may be free or paid depending on your Dhan account type.

    4

    Verify the connection

Once connected, TradeBook shows a green 'Verified' status with the verification timestamp. Portfolio sync begins automatically.

Positions sync every 5 minutes during market hours (Mon–Fri, 9:15 AM – 3:30 PM IST). market data update for all open positions.

    5

    Enable auto-sync (optional)

Toggle 'Auto Sync Portfolio' in Dhan settings to automatically import executed orders and calculate P&L for closed positions.

Multiple API keys are supported with priority-based failover. If one key expires, the system falls back to the next active key.

    Setting Up Telegram Notifications

    1

Create a Telegram bot via @BotFather

Open Telegram, search for @BotFather, and send /newbot. Follow the prompts to name your bot and get your bot token.

The bot token looks like '123456789:ABCdefGHIjklMNOpqrsTUVwxyz'. Keep it private — anyone with this token can control your bot.

    2

Enter the bot token in TradeBook

Go to Settings → Integrations → Telegram. Paste your bot token. TradeBook validates it via the Telegram getMe API and auto-populates the bot username.

If validation fails, double-check the token for extra spaces or missing characters.

    3

    Add a chat destination

Click 'Add Chat' and enter your Telegram chat ID. This can be your personal chat, a group, or a channel. Chat type is auto-detected from the ID prefix.

Personal chats have positive IDs. Groups and channels start with '-100'. You must /start the bot in the chat before it can send messages.

    4

    Configure routing rules

For each chat destination, select which segments (Equity, Options, Futures, etc.) and notification types (Trades, Alerts, Studies, Daily Reports) should be routed there.

Example: Route Options alerts to a dedicated 'F&O Alerts' channel, and send daily P&L reports to your personal chat.

    5

    Test and verify

Click 'Send Test Message' to verify delivery. The chat shows a green health indicator when verified. All deliveries are logged for troubleshooting.

If the test fails with 'chat not found', ensure you've sent /start to the bot in that specific chat or channel.

    • Leave a template empty to use the default rich format — no configuration needed
    • synced variable reference panel with one-click copy for all available placeholders
    • Ideal for RA (Research Analyst) channels — create clean, branded signal formats

    Auto-Attached Chart Snapshots

Chart images are automatically sent alongside trade notifications.

    Auto-Attached Chart Snapshots

    New

When you add a chart image or link to a trade, it's automatically included in Telegram notifications:

    • Chart images uploaded to TradeBook storage are resolved to full URLs and sent via Telegram's sendPhoto API
    • Direct image URLs in the Chart Link field (ending in .png, .jpg, .gif, .webp) are sent as photo attachments
    • TradingView chart links are included as clickable [View Chart] buttons on the notification
    • The notification caption includes all trade details — no separate text message needed
    • Works with both automated notifications (new trade, close trade) and manual sends from Trade Detail

    Pro Tip

Best practice: Upload chart screenshots directly to TradeBook when creating a trade. The system automatically detects and attaches them to Telegram messages. For TradingView users, paste the chart link in the 'Chart Link' field — it appears as a button in the notification.

    AI Trade Insights

Get AI-powered analysis of your trading patterns, timing, and risk management through a Bring Your Own Key setup. Your provider key uses the storage mode you choose, and provider billing or quotas remain under your own account.

    Jump to

    Setup in 3 Simple Steps

    1
    Create API KeyProvider console
    2
    Choose StorageLocal or Cloud Sync
    3
    Review TradeCoach + insights

Choose & Configure Your AI Provider

Pick a provider, generate an API key, and connect it to TradeBook in under 2 minutes.

    Configuring Your AI Provider

    1

Open Settings → Integrations → AI Trade Insights

Navigate to the AI configuration panel inside your Settings page.

    2

    Select your provider

Choose between Google Gemini or OpenAI. Both can generate structured trade analysis from the same TradeBook summary payload.

Use the provider where you already have API access, quota, or billing controls configured.

    3

    Generate your API key

For Gemini: visit aistudio.google.com/app/apikey and create a key. For OpenAI: visit platform.openai.com/api-keys.

Provider quotas and billing rules change over time, so confirm current limits inside the provider console before saving the key.

    4

    Paste the key and save

Copy the API key and paste it into the field in TradeBook. Save locally by default, or choose Cloud Sync when you need the same provider on multiple devices.

    5

    Test the connection

Close a trade or navigate to the AI Insights panel. If the key is valid, you'll see AI-generated analysis within seconds.

If something goes wrong, check the key is correct and hasn't expired.

    Pro Tip

Which provider should you choose? Start with the provider where you already have reliable API access. TradeBook sends the same aggregated trade summary to Gemini or OpenAI, then stores the structured response on the trade, so the practical difference is usually quota, billing, latency, and your preferred model family.

    • Sign in with your Google account
    • Click "Create API Key"
    • Copy the key and paste it in Settings → Integrations → AI Trade Insights
    • Confirm the current quota and billing terms in Google AI Studio before heavy usage
TradeBook keeps the request small by sending a focused trade summary, not your entire trading history.

    OpenAI (Alternative)

Use OpenAI if your workflow already runs on the OpenAI API or you prefer its model behavior for written trade feedback.

    Setup steps:

    • Go to platform.openai.com/api-keys
    • Create an account and add billing credits
    • Generate a new API key
    • Paste it in Settings → Integrations → AI Trade Insights
    • Review current model pricing and usage limits in the OpenAI dashboard

What data is sent, how it's processed, and what you get back.

    How It Works & Privacy

    What AI Analyzes

    • Aggregated win/loss statistics (not raw trade data)
    • Timing patterns — best entry hours and days
    • Risk management trends — SL hit rate, R:R ratios
    • Behavioral patterns — early exits, overtrading
    • Mistake frequency and recurring patterns

    Privacy & Security

    • Local Only keeps the API key on this device
    • Cloud Sync stores the key in account settings for multi-device use
    • The key is sent only when you run an AI analysis request
    • Your key, your provider quota, your provider billing
    • You can disconnect anytime in Settings

    Best Trading Window

Your win rate is 72% for trades entered between 9:30-10:30 AM. Consider focusing your entries in this window.

    🛡️Risk Management Improving

    Mobile & PWA

TradeBook is a fully installable Progressive Web App. Add it to your home screen for a native-like experience with offline capabilities.

    Jump to

    Best Practice

Why this feature exists: Most trading happens on the go — during commutes, between meetings, or while monitoring positions away from your desk. A PWA gives you the full TradeBook experience in an app-like wrapper without downloading anything from an app store. It launches instantly, works offline for trade logging, and auto-updates silently. The offline trade queue ensures you never lose a trade entry because of spotty mobile connectivity — especially useful in India's varied network conditions.

    Note

Where it's used: Every feature in TradeBook works on mobile — trade creation, alerts, journal, watchlists, analytics. The bottom navigation bar replaces the sidebar, swipe gestures replace right-click menus, and the floating action button gives one-tap access to create trades, alerts, or journal entries.

    Installing TradeBook

Get the full app experience on any device — no app store required.

    Installing TradeBook on Your Phone

    1

Open TradeBook in your mobile browser

Navigate to the app URL in Chrome (Android) or Safari (iOS).

Make sure you're using the default browser — PWA install is not supported in in-app browsers.

    2

    Tap the browser menu

On Android, tap the three-dot menu. On iOS, tap the Share icon at the bottom.

Look for 'Add to Home Screen' or 'Install App' option.

    3

    Select 'Add to Home Screen'

Confirm the name and tap Add. The app icon appears on your home screen instantly.

    4

    Launch from your home screen

Open TradeBook like any native app — it runs full-screen without browser chrome.

Auto-updates happen seamlessly. You'll see a refresh prompt when a new version is available.

    Install as App

TradeBook works as a PWA — install it on your phone or desktop for instant access without the browser chrome.

    • Add to Home Screen on iOS and Android
    • Full-screen app experience — no browser UI
    • Maskable icon for clean home screen appearance
    • Auto-updates when new versions are deployed
    • Refresh prompt when a new version is available

    Offline Trade Queue

    New

Log trades even when you're offline. Trades are queued locally and automatically synced when connectivity is restored.

    • Detects online/offline status automatically
    • Offline banner appears in the app header
    • Trades are saved to local storage when offline
    • Auto-syncs queued trades when back online
    • Toast notifications confirm each synced trade
    • Shows count of queued trades in the offline banner

    Offline Behaviour

How TradeBook handles connectivity loss gracefully.

    Note

When you're offline, TradeBook saves new trades to your device's local storage. Once you're back online, they sync automatically — you'll see a confirmation toast for each trade synced. If any fail, they stay queued and retry on the next reconnection. The offline banner in the header shows how many trades are waiting.

    Mobile Navigation & Onboarding

Touch-optimized navigation with guided onboarding for new users.

    Settings

Configure your account, preferences, integrations, and subscription. Manage your tags, capital, and security settings.

    Jump to

    Best Practice

Why this matters: Settings aren't just preferences — they're the foundation your entire analytics and risk management system runs on. If your starting capital is wrong, every return % is wrong. If your tags are poorly organized, your pattern analysis is meaningless. If your integrations aren't configured, you're missing market data and automated notifications. Spend 10 minutes setting this up correctly on day one, and everything downstream works better.

TradeBook offers three plan tiers to match your trading needs:

    • Free — core trade logging, basic analytics, and limited alerts. Great for getting started.
    • Pro — unlocks AI Trade Coach, advanced analytics (sector heatmap, risk of ruin, pattern detection), unlimited alerts, CSV import, and weekly reports.
    • Team — everything in Pro plus collaborative features and priority support.
    • 14-day Pro trial — every new account starts with full Pro access for 14 days, no credit card required.

    Account & Billing

    Account & Billing

    5 questions
    Is TradeBook free to use?

Yes! The Free plan includes trade logging, watchlists, alerts, and basic analytics. The Pro plan unlocks advanced analytics, AI insights, weekly reports, multi-leg strategies, and more. All new accounts start with a 14-day Pro trial.

How does the 14-day Pro trial work?

New accounts automatically get full Pro access for 14 days — no credit card required. You can see your remaining trial days in the sidebar badge. After the trial, you keep all your data and continue on the Free plan, or upgrade to Pro.

    What payment methods are supported?

We support UPI, credit/debit cards, and net banking via our payment partner. All plans are billed in INR. Quarterly, half-yearly, and yearly cycles include discounts, with yearly Pro priced at ₹3,999.

Can I cancel my subscription anytime?

Yes. Cancel anytime from Settings → Billing. You'll retain Pro access until the end of your current billing period. No data is deleted when you downgrade.

How do I export or backup my data?

Go to Settings → Preferences → Full Data Backup. This exports all your trades, journal entries, alerts, and settings as a JSON file. You can also export trades as CSV from the Trades page.

    Trades & CSV Import

    Trades & CSV Import

    6 questions
How do I import trades from my broker?

Go to Trades → Import CSV. Upload your broker's trade export file. TradeBook auto-detects columns (symbol, price, quantity, date) and lets you review mappings before importing. Supports Zerodha, Angel One, Dhan, and custom CSVs.

What CSV format does TradeBook expect?

Any CSV with columns for symbol, entry price, quantity, and date works. The importer auto-maps common headers like 'ticker', 'qty', 'trade_date'. You can manually adjust mappings in the preview step if needed.

Can I edit a trade after creating it?

Yes. Click any trade to open the detail modal, then use the edit actions. You can update prices, notes, tags, chart images, and status. Changes are saved instantly.

What's the difference between Open, Closed, and Cancelled trades?

Open = active position you're still holding. Closed = position fully exited with final P&L calculated. Cancelled = trade you decided not to take. Only Closed trades count in your analytics and P&L calculations.

    How does Position Sizing work?

In the trade creation modal, the Position Sizing Calculator uses your starting capital, risk percentage, and stop loss distance to calculate the ideal quantity. It ensures you never risk more than your defined percentage on any single trade.

    What are Trade Templates?

Templates save your common trade configurations — segment, trade type, default SL%, tags, and notes template. When creating a new trade, select a template to auto-fill these fields. Smart Suggestions recommend templates based on the symbol you're trading.

    Alerts & Notifications

    Alerts & Notifications

    6 questions
    How often are alerts checked?

By default, alerts are evaluated every 5 minutes during market hours (9:15 AM – 3:30 PM IST). You can change the frequency to 1 min or 15 min in Settings → Preferences. High-priority alerts can be checked more frequently.

What alert condition types are available?

Price Above, Price Below, Price Cross (triggers when price crosses a level in either direction), and Percentage Change. Each can be set as one-time or recurring with configurable cooldown periods (5 min to 1 day).

    Can I get AI-suggested alerts?

Yes! Smart Alert Suggestions analyzes your frequently traded symbols and recent trade levels to recommend relevant price alerts. Each suggestion includes AI-generated reasoning. One-click to create any suggestion as an active alert.

How do Quiet Hours and DND work?

Quiet Hours automatically mute notifications outside your configured hours (e.g., after 3:30 PM). DND mode pauses all notifications for a set duration and auto-resumes. Both are configurable in Settings → Preferences.

    What is the Notification Digest?

When enabled, similar notifications are batched and delivered as a single summary instead of individual pings. This reduces notification fatigue during volatile sessions while ensuring you don't miss anything important.

    Why didn't my alert trigger?

Check: (1) Is the alert active and not snoozed? (2) Is it within market hours if 'active hours only' is enabled? (3) Has the cooldown period elapsed since last trigger? (4) Is the alert expired? Check the alert's evaluation metrics in the detail view for diagnostics.

    Analytics & Reports

    Analytics & Reports

    4 questions
Why does my dashboard show no data?

Check the segment filter (top of dashboard) and month selector — they may be filtering out your data. Select 'All Segments' and expand the date range. Also ensure you have closed trades, as open trades don't contribute to most analytics.

    How are weekly reports generated?

Weekly reports are auto-generated every Monday based on your previous week's trading data. They include P&L breakdown by segment, top setups, win rate trends, and actionable insights. Reports are delivered via Telegram if configured.

What's the difference between weekly reports and daily journals?

Daily journals are your personal notes — pre-market plan, mood, lessons learned. Weekly reports are system-generated analytics summaries with metrics, charts, and AI-powered insights. Both serve different purposes and complement each other.

How does the Equity Curve handle deposits/withdrawals?

Capital transactions (deposits, withdrawals) are tracked separately in Settings → Capital Management. The equity curve adjusts for these, so adding funds doesn't artificially inflate your performance metrics.

    5 questions
Do I need a Dhan account to use TradeBook?

No. Dhan is optional — it enables market data, auto-sync of positions, and one-click execution. You can use TradeBook fully as a manual trade journal without any broker connection.

Why are my market data not updating?

Check: (1) Dhan integration is connected and verified in Settings → Integrations. (2) Your Dhan token hasn't expired (check the warning banner). (3) Prices only stream during market hours (9:15 AM – 3:30 PM IST). (4) The instrument has a valid security_id mapped.

How do I fix Telegram not sending messages?

Verify your bot token and chat ID in Settings → Integrations → Telegram. Use the 'Send Test' button to confirm delivery. Check the Delivery Log panel for specific error messages. Common issue: bot not added to the chat or chat ID mismatch.

How do I set up AI Trade Insights?

Go to Settings → Integrations → AI Trade Insights, choose a provider, paste your API key, choose Local Only or Cloud Sync storage, and save. AI analysis becomes available for trade coaching, journal drafts, insights, and morning briefings.

Can I connect multiple Telegram channels?

Yes! You can add multiple Telegram destinations (channels, groups, or DMs) in Settings → Integrations → Telegram. Each channel can be configured to receive specific notification types and market segments independently.

    Mobile & Offline

    Mobile, PWA & Offline

    4 questions
Can I use TradeBook on my phone?

Yes! TradeBook is a Progressive Web App (PWA). On Chrome/Safari, tap 'Add to Home Screen' for a full-screen, app-like experience with offline support. No app store download needed.

    What happens when I'm offline?

TradeBook detects when you lose connectivity and shows an offline indicator. Any trades you create while offline are queued locally and auto-synced when you reconnect. The queue count is displayed in the status bar.

Does the PWA work on iPad/tablet?

Yes. The interface is fully responsive and optimized for tablet-sized screens. The sidebar collapses to give more content space, and all touch interactions (swipe-to-act, drag-and-drop) work on touch devices.

How do I install the PWA?

Chrome (Android): Tap the 3-dot menu → 'Install app' or 'Add to Home screen'. Safari (iOS): Tap the Share button → 'Add to Home Screen'. Edge: Click the install icon in the address bar. The app will appear as a standalone icon on your device.

    Features & Usage

    7 questions
What is the AI Trade Coach?

The AI Trade Coach provides instant, personalized feedback on your closed trades — analyzing entry timing, exit quality, risk management, and emotional discipline. It auto-triggers when you close a trade and feedback is saved to the trade record.

    How do Trading Rules work?

Trading Rules are a customizable pre-trade checklist. Add your personal rules (e.g., 'Check trend on higher timeframe', 'Confirm volume breakout'). The system requires you to check every rule before submitting a new trade, enforcing discipline.

How does the Command Palette work?

Press Cmd+K (Mac) or Ctrl+K (Windows) to open the Command Palette. Search across all pages, trades, alerts, studies, and journal entries. You can also create new items and navigate anywhere instantly - it is the fastest way to use TradeBook.

    How do Achievements work?

Achievements are earned automatically as you hit milestones - first trade logged, 5-day win streak, 30 journal entries, etc. Check your badge grid on the Dashboard. Achievements cannot be lost once earned and serve as motivation markers.

What are Studies and how are they different from trades?

Studies are your research notes for potential trades - tracking a pattern, analyzing a setup, or monitoring a stock. They don't have P&L. When a study leads to an actual trade, you can link them together to track your research-to-execution pipeline.

How do I use the Stock Screener effectively?

Start with one of the 47 built-in presets (e.g., 'Bullish Breakout', '52-Week High') or build custom filters. Save your filters as presets for one-click reuse. Click any result to see the stock insight card with key fundamentals and recent price action.

    What is the Mistake Tracker?

The Mistakes page aggregates all mistake tags from your trades into a visual analysis - showing frequency, P&L impact, and trends over time. It helps you identify your most costly behavioral patterns and track improvement.

    Troubleshooting

    Common Issues & Fixes

    6 questions
The app is loading slowly or feels laggy

Try: (1) Clear browser cache and reload. (2) Reduce the date range on analytics pages; large datasets take longer to render. (3) Close other heavy browser tabs. (4) If on mobile, ensure you're using the PWA version, not a browser tab.

My CSV import failed or shows wrong data

Check: (1) File is valid UTF-8 CSV (not Excel .xlsx). (2) Date format matches DD/MM/YYYY or YYYY-MM-DD. (3) Numeric columns don't have currency symbols (Rs., $, commas). (4) Review the column mapping step carefully before confirming import.

Charts or analytics are showing incorrect P&L

Verify: (1) Entry price and exit price are correct on the trade. (2) Quantity includes lot size for F&O trades. (3) The trade status is 'Closed' (open trades show unrealized P&L based on current price). (4) Check if segment filter is excluding some trades.

I can't log in or my session keeps expiring

Try: (1) Clear cookies and browser data for the site. (2) Ensure you're using the email you registered with. (3) Use 'Forgot Password' to reset. (4) If using PWA, try uninstalling and reinstalling the app. Sessions expire after extended inactivity for security.

Dhan sync is not importing all my positions

Dhan API has a limit on the number of positions returned per request. If you have many positions across segments, some may not sync in a single batch. Try syncing individual segments or contact support if the issue persists.

My trade tags or patterns are missing after reload

Tags are saved per trade. If you created custom tags in Settings > Tag Management but didn't assign them to trades, they won't appear on the Trades page. Go to any trade's detail modal to add tags.
